Top with a layer of fresh berries, then a layer of whipped cream, more berries and prepared custard. Repeat the process until you are out of ingredients or the bowl is full. Top with more whipped cream and
garnish with fresh fruit and mint. Chill until serving time. To Serve: Simply scoop out servings with a large spoon and add a dip of your favorite Bryers Ice Cream!!!
Jasper's Notes: The English have enjoyed this dessert for over three centuries now. Although the dictionary defines 'trifle' as being something insignificant, this dessert is anything but. Its beginnings were humble as the first trifles simply consisted of a mixture of boiled cream and a few other ingredients. It wasn't until the mid 18th century that the trifle started to evolve into what we have today.English Trifle
This traditional English dessert consists of layers of angel food cake doused in some sort of alcohol, usually sherry, then layered with jam, whipped cream and custard. I like to use Bacardi Rum. Trifle is very forgiving, it takes no effort to make it looks great! If you don't have a trifle bowl, use any large glass bowl. You can also make individual servings by placing the layers in large wine goblets.
